Submission

Guidelines

Have a story you think would fit our Society?

How to submit:

Now accepting submissions via Duotrope for our January Issue!

Email questions to submissions@thegenresociety.com.

Note: At this time, submissions are not being accepted via email. Please submit everything through the Duosuma link above.

Formatting:

Double-space all submissions, and include your preferred name, email, and word count in the upper left hand corner of the first page. Include page numbers on the top right corner of all pages. Please only send pdf files or .docx files.

Poems may be formatted uniquely, but please use standard fonts (Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, Garamond).

Please include a 2-3 sentence, third-person bio/cover letter explaining who you are and a hook introducing your piece (including word count). This bio will be used in the magazine after your piece.

Note the corresponding genre for your piece as well.

Length requirements:

While there is no minimum length (flash fiction is encouraged!) please do not send pieces over 5,000 words.

Send up to 3 poems in one document, and only one fiction piece per submission.

Digital Art:

If you have a digital art piece or a graphic narrative that is also genre focused, such as fantasy, sci-fi, or horror, please send it as a .jpeg or high resolution pdf.

We would love to have cover art for overall collections and individual prose and poetry pieces. Please include your preferred name, email, and/or social media tags to be included alongside the art.

*Reprints are not accepted at this time.*

*Simultaneous submissions are allowed. Please withdraw any submission as soon as it is accepted elsewhere.*

*Submission periods may close early due to the amount of submissions and how quickly the issue is filled. Submissions for the October issue are closed.*
